Virtual 3D Showcase Modeling
24-Hour Open House
Sell a feeling, not a house.
Buyers want to picture themselves in a home. Let them see how far the outlets are from their bed, or what the view out the bay windows will look like from the kitchen table.
With a Matterport 3D virtual tour, a potential buyer can visit a house over and over again.
Process
The Matterport tour is shot by moving a rotating camera through the space and allowing it to capture views in 360 degrees.
Typically, tours are shot after photos are taken so that we can make sure the listing looks perfect.

I’m going to get super technical here because I think these things are just the coolest. Basically, the camera has 3 lenses on each level. There's a top, middle, and bottom. The middle level faces straight out, the bottom level faces up, and the top level faces down. With the 3 lenses on the 3 levels positioned in this configuration, when the camera spins it can take pictures from floor to ceiling.
The first lens is a regular photo lens like the one you have on your phone. It takes 5 pictures in rapid succession to make an HDR image. These images are stitched together to make an orthomosaic photosphere. The second lens is a LiDar camera that measures how far away objects are. Think radar, but light photons instead of sound wave refraction. These measurements create a three-dimensional space that the photosphere is overlaid onto. The third and final lens is actually a laser emitter and infrared camera. This array is a random dot projector. It’s a bit of a misnomer because it's not so random. Essentially the dots are projected onto the room and their distance from each other is measured based on their relative position between photos. This helps build a more high-fidelity model of the space.
The whole process to shoot a 3D virtual tour takes about 30 minutes. Pretty crazy stuff. -

Meet Kevin.
Kevin Quick is an architectural photographer from Chicago, Illinois. He has called Sarasota home for 8 years, and, like any midwestern transplant, considers himself to be a born local.
Kevin’s eye for detail and manipulation of light has given him the ability to create images in a variety of styles for many clients. His dedication to his client’s vision is his driving force.
For as long as he can remember, Kevin has been a photographer. His love of imagery took him to DePaul University, where he graduated with honors in the field of Digital Media. After a brief stint producing films for networks like Hulu and Netflix, Kevin decided to throw himself all in to photographing the created space.
